About of Indira Gandhi
National Centre for Arts:
Indira Gandhi National Centre for the
Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi is a leading govt-funded arts association
in India. It is an independent institution under the Union Ministry of Culture. It was recognized in the memory of Indira Gandhi, the late Indian Prime Minister, with Kapila
Vatsyayan as its founding director.
The
Indira Gandhi National Centre for the
Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi was launched on 19-11-1985 by the delayed Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi at a
function where the symbolism of the components was clearly expressed at diverse
levels. The essentials - fire, water,
earth, sky and vegetation - were brought together.
The
Indira
Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi recognized in memory of Smt. Indira Gandhi, is visualized
as a centre surrounding the study and experience of all the arts—each form with
its own honesty, yet within a measurement of mutual interdependence, unified
with nature, social arrangement and cosmology.
