MICA MICAT Syllabus Overview

The MICAT exam pattern is quite different compared to the other MBA entrance exams. Hence, the MICAT Syllabus will also be different. There are certain sections, which cannot have a particular syllabus owing to their descriptive nature. For e.g. the essay writing, arguments, story writing and Psychometric Test. The MICAT exam will be held in February.

Reasoning and Verbal Ability:

The questions on this section are asked on the following topics:

Visual Reasoning: Visual reasoning is the process of manipulating one's mental image of an object in order to reach a certain conclusion – for example, mentally constructing a piece of machinery to experiment with different mechanisms. In a frequently cited paper in the journal Science[1] and a later book[2] Eugene S. Ferguson, a mechanical engineer and historian of technology, claims that visual reasoning is a widely used tool used in creating technological artefacts.

Data Sufficiency: This data sufficiency problem consists of a question and two statements, labeled (1) and (2), in which certain data are given. You have to decide whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the question. Using the data given in the statements, plus your knowledge of mathematics and everyday facts (such as the number of days in July or the meaning of the word counter clockwise)

Statement-Conclusions: In this section, the questions consist of a statement or two or more statements and conclusions. The conclusions may be direct or indirect inference derived from the statements.

Word Combination: The word combination, along with the sentence, is the main syntactic unit. The smallest word combination consists of two members, whereas the largest word combination may theoretically be indefinitely large though this issue has not yet been studied properly.

General Knowledge: Since MICA offers a specialized MBA programme on Communication, majority of the questions on this section are on advertising, marketing, film and media. The difficulty level remains moderate to tough, similar to the other section. Unlike the other MBA entrance exams, MICAT Syllabus will not include Quantitative Ability section. The other aspects of the MICAT Syllabus will depend on your creative and imaginative skill.
