The University was established on fifth June nineteen eighty, under the University Act 1980 (Manipur Act 8 of 1980), as a teaching cum-affiliating university at Imphal with territorial jurisdiction over the state of Manipur. Manipur Universit was converted into a Central University w.e.f. thirteen October two thousand five. The University Act No.54 of two thousand five received the assent of the president on twenty eight December two thousand five.

Professor ->> Rs.37,400-67,000) + AGP- Rs.10,000/-

Associate Professor ->> Rs.37,400-67,000) + AGP Rs. 9,000/-

Assistant Professor ->> Rs.15,600-39,100) + AGP Rs. 6,000/-
