Poonam Dalal - Inspirational Story of a Woman Police Officer, ACP Gurgaon

Poonam Dalal:

We all love to search the excuses. Age, gender, marital status, financial background, lack of conveniences, work-pressure – these are only few
of the excuses one may make. But not Poonam Dalal. Her story is a story of hard work and volition power. It is a story which portrays up to what strata or level normal Indian women may rise if she thinks she may. It’s a story which may induce not only lots of women but also persons.

Clear Indian Administrative Service team came to know regarding Poonam Dalal, when she sent us a thank you mail once she cleared the toughest examination in country – UPSC Civil Services Examination – More Council known as IAS Examination. More regarding that afterwards. Now more detail the life about Poonam Dalal, who is presently serving as the ACP Vigilance Gurgaon.

From a Primary Teacher to ACP:

Poonam Dalal

Poonam Dalal tells she is slightly different from various others yet at the same time very identical to a lot of us. She has her parental roots at Chhara village in Jhajjar District, Haryana. But she was born and brought up in the wonderful location that is Delhi.
She started her career as a teacher of the primary in the govt. field on the Delhi with the employment she did her graduate as an external student from University of the Delhi.
After completing her graduate degree she appeared for various Bank PO Examinations and Exam of the SSC Graduate Level and cleared all of them. SBI probationary officers, SBI Associates probationary officers, Union Bank Of India probationary officers, SSC Graduate Level 2005 &b others are some of them.
She finally selects State Bank of India PO. She regrets that there was nobody to guide me regarding Union Public Service Commission Exam.  (Had there been somebody at that time to guide her regarding Exam of the UPSC, you would have been studying this interview much earlier!).

She also shares the fact that on that stage Poonam Dalal used to be very under-confident regarding her opportunities at Company secretary Examination. She tells, “I am sharing these thoughts therefore that all of those who are somehow feeling the same as I had once been, may come out of it and not encore the mistake which I did”.
Latter three years in State Bank of India, she joined the Income Tax Department securing a must civilized rank (seven) at all level of the India in SSC graduate level Exam 2006 which gave her the assuredness of writing Union Public Service Commission. This is also a time she realized that being a General Category applicants her efforts were going to be wasted anyhow because of her age (Poonam was around 28 by then, and thirty was then the upper age limit for General Category Appliers)
She gave her 1st effort at Union Public Service Commission CSE in 2009 at the age of twenty eighty and got Railways (Railway Protection Force).

She didn’t join that job and sat for Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) 2010. She again got Railways, but a different service (Indian Railway Personnel Service). Meanwhile, she had cleared Haryana, Public Service Commission (PSC) and joined as Dy.SP in the Haryana Police in the 2011.

Wait; the story is not over yet!

In the 2011, Poonam Dalal couldn’t pass Prelims. She thought her tryst along with Union Public Service Commission was over due to the age condition (term). (As hinted before it was only thirty years for general category appliers then, and even now it’s only thirty two years).
‘Fortune favors the brave’ – various say. Life has kept various surprises for her. In the 2015, because of movement and petitions from appliers who were impressed by pattern change in the 2011, the govt. gave an additional effort to all those who wrote for Civil Services Examination in the 2011. Thus, Poonam Dalal got a chance to join again for UPSC.
9 months pregnant at the time of Prelims; had to take care a 3 months old baby while writing mains:

This effort came as a big challenge as Poonam was out of touch with preparation, being working 247 in the police force. Very more than which, Poonam was nine months pregnant at the prelims time. Poonam cleared Union Public Service Commission prelims in flying colors by self-study. When preparing for mains she had also to take care of her son who was just three months old only. It was never very easy. But as Poonam Dalal puts it, she got her good rank in her most big challenging circumstances – all rank of India 308! Civil Services Exam 2015 Roll number: 0506094.
It is the policy of Clear IAS that we must not claim the success of toppers unless the toppers themselves share their success with us. Clear IAS – as self-reading package for Union Public Service Commission CSI – has been giving free online study materials and test-series for Prelims exam at a very affordable price, but we consider we have no rights to brag regarding the results. It’s only the talent and hard work of our candidates which resulted in their success. We only guide them. We just bestow assurance that if candidates have capacity, even by self-study candidates may clear IAS examination.
Nothing is copious rewarding to us than our candidates/readers sharing the success jiffy with us. She did. Even on the success moment, Poonam Dalal is very unassuming. We are writing her testimonial, thinking that this would bestow confidence to several of followers of Clear IAS who can’t afford costly coaching classroom, but depend on our guidance for self-reading.
Clear IAS wishes Poonam all the very best in life and career:
Thanks a lot Poonam Dalal to search time to inscribe to us, share the credit of her success to us, and ask the people behind. Clear IAS exam salutes hardworking recent women like Poonam Dalal. We want to her become a role model for a good & great India nation.
